Mediterranean Special & Greek Wines!
This weekend, we are featuring some very special wines from Greece for our wine & cheese tasting, & we also just whipped up a special Mediterranean plate–the Cyprus Delight! This refreshingly simple dish features Halloumi, a sheep milk cheese from Cypress that is traditionally served grilled with cucumbers. We put a different spin on it & serve it with Sweet Tomato Vinegar, chopped Marcona Almonds, fresh & pickled vegetables, grilled lemon, & our delicious house made Peppadew Goat Bites. Plus, get 5% off a bottle of Greek wine to pair with your meal when you purchase the Cyprus Delight!
Our weekend flight of Greek wines includes:
Santorini Assyrtiko 2013 White
Assyrtiko grapes are the indigenous grape of Santorini Island in the Aegean Sea. Grown on volcanic soil, the vines grow in basket-like shrubs, and the wine has great minerality & a unique savory element.
Paired with Fromage Blanc & Artichoke Olive Tapenade.
Domaine Skouras Zoe Rosé & Red
Established in 1986 by Dijon-trained winemaker George Skouras in southern Greece’s Peloponnese region, Domaine Skouras prides itself in producing high-quality wines with obscure indigenous Greek varietals, as well as more familiar varietals.
A beautiful shade of fuchsia in color, Zoe Rosé boasts delicious flavors of red plum & hibiscus. It’s a blend of 70% Aghiorghitiko (EYE-or-EE-tee-koh) & 30% Moscofilero, & is great on its own or with Mediterranean fare.
Paired with Idiazabal cheese.
Zoe Red is 90% Aghiorghitiko & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon–the first ever Greek wine to blend these varietals. It’s medium bodied, with hints of spice, cherry & licorice. Amazing with sheep milk cheese & cherries!
Paired with Hazelnut Gianduja (house made chocolate).
Wine & cheese flights are every Friday & Saturday 11am-7pm, & Sunday 12pm-6pm.
